About the Speaker

Dr. Huyen T. T. Nguyen is a distinguished Research Fellow at the Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies (GSICS), Kobe University, Japan, where she also completed her Doctor of Philosophy in International Cooperation Studies in 2019 under the mentorship of Professor Keiichi Ogawa. She earned her Master of Public Policy from Meiji University, Japan, and her Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Pedagogy from Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Dr. Nguyen’s research and professional work span Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), family and women’s studies, education financing, and gender-based education policy. She currently leads a Japan KAKENHI-funded project (2024–2026) examining the maternal well-being of Vietnamese mothers with emphasis on family context, education, and social support.

Her impressive portfolio includes consultancy with the UNESCO Institute for Statistics in Canada, where she contributed to developing the International Standard Classification of Teacher Training Programs (ISCED-T), and long-term collaboration with UNESCO Bangkok on education financing, teacher placement, and early childhood policy across ASEAN countries. A dedicated academic and development specialist, Dr. Nguyen has lectured for JICA training programs on education financing and has been involved in numerous international education development projects in Vietnam, Cambodia, Lao PDR, and Sub-Saharan Africa. Her works have been published under UNESCO and Kobe University, significantly advancing policy discussions on equitable, inclusive, and sustainable education systems in the Asia-Pacific region.
